 Jania

Learning to Love

You found me...my name is Jania and am very afraid of people.  I am 9 years and I got beat when I was little...a lot.   Then one day my family told me they hated me and drove me to 'the pound'.  It was very scary.  There were many big and loud dogs, and even without getting hit, this was just another reason to hide.  Fortunately, the gang at  Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County & NJ found me.  They took me to a place where there were other doxies...my people.  What a relief!

I went to see the veterinarian; I had not done that since I was a puppy.  Everyone was really nice to me, but it was just so scary that I couldn't stay.  I got some vaccinations, but the doctors want me to have a hernia operation for the bump on my tummy.   I am trying to get filled up with love before I go in for the operation, but it is a very frightening thought.

I have friends for the first time ever.  There is always someone to cuddle with me and love on me.  Still I am very frightened of the world
.  It is hard to figure out who to trust.  My foster Mom told me that I don't need to worry because I can stay here at the sanctuary and sleep in the bed with her and my new brother ArthurPhew.  I hope she wasn't kidding about getting to stay.  I don't know what I would do without my little gang.

Now for the tough part. It is so hard to ask but, would you, could you, be my best friend?  I can't believe I even said it.  I am a low needs friend as hopefully, you will see.  I run under the covers every morning after breakfast and try not to get in the way of anybody, 'cause I am scared...but that is getting better.  I get lots of love and support at Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County & NJ and my behaviorist says not all people are bad...really?  I hope you join Best Friends.

Maybe for the very first time with your love and support
I can face the world again....maybe.

It is because of your kind generosity that DRBC's is able to take care of me and so many other sick and abused dachshunds.  You are a lifesaver.  I worry a lot about the future and with your help, I can worry a little less.  Maybe there is love out there.  Can you help me find it?  Gosh, thanks.

Jania allows us to hold and kiss her now, but still runs and hides when the experience is over.  She is very sweet but has been damaged by the abuse she received prior to joining DRBC.  Helping Jania though her fears is a daily labor of love.  Inside that little body is a loving doxie and someday she will know that too. DRBC is happy to be able to care for Jania and her friends in our Best Friends Program for the rest of their lives.

Becoming a Best Friend means you will be helping some of the neediest doxies here at DRBC, sanctuary doxies that are here because of their special physical or emotional needs.

Thank You for your support of these very special creatures!
Because you give, another will live.

Please help Jania and her friends here at the sanctuary.  Your support makes a difference.
