I know, I know, there's something different about me.  I have something no other doxie here has...my woobie!  I love my woobie, so when I heard we were taking pictures I made sure Woob made it with me.  He is important too.  Oh wait, you are probably talking about my Mom, she was a laborador retriever, but Dad was a doxie!  Because my Mom was a lab and my Dad was a doxie my  front legs have funny bends in them, but the folks here at the Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County & NJ sanctuary home, love and help me anyway.

It has been a bad year for me.  I have spent a lot of time in hospitals.  I had a stroke, then I got told I have a disease called Masticatory Muscle Myositis [MMM] and I have kidney failure too! So the MMM means I can't chew anymore and the kidney failure, well, just like my brother Smokey, I have subqutaneous fluid therapy and special food.

I take Woobie with me when things get tough.
Could you be my Best Friend and help Woob and me?
We would feel so much better.

You guessed it...I have to go to the doctor lots.  I am lucky though cause I have a great team!  Dr Karen Collins and Dr Alan Klag at the Veterinary Specialty & Emergency place are my docs and they help me feel better.   I love my nurses Holly, Ryan and Kim too - they really know how to make a guy feel special!   Thanks to the folks at  Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County & NJ everyone here gets lots of great veterinary support along with lots of love.  You could help the guys like me, or one of my special friends, by becoming a Best Friend.  It is E-A-S-Y!

I should tell you about myself.  I joined the DRBC family from a shelter.  The people there said no one would love me because of my legs, but one person said she knew who to call - DRBC!  It didn't take long after that and I was on my way.  Now I live at the sanctuary place and I am so glad I do!   I will celebrate my 19th birthday on January 10th!  Cake time!!! Now I am looking for a Best Friend?  Is that you?  I will share my woobie with you for a few minutes....

Homer is reaching the end of his life.  Here at Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County & NJ we will help Homer as long as he want to fight his battle.  Our hearts will break the day he leaves us but we will have done everything we can to help Homer until that time.  This special little guy will not be the first or the last we help on that special journey and we will have been all the richer for having known him.  Today we ask you join the Best Friends Program so that we may hold Homer in our arms and love him until the day we help him take his last breath and then, eyes tear filled, forever hold him in our hearts.  Homer and the efforts made on his behalf represent the soul of the DRBC Best Friends Program.  We hope you will join their cause.

Becoming a Best Friend means you will be helping some of the neediest doxies here at DRBC, sanctuary doxies that are here because of their special physical or emotional needs.

Thank You for your support of these very special creatures!
Because you give, another will live.

Homer and the other special doxies here at the sanctuary truly fill our lives with  love and friendship on an unconditional and reciprocal basis.  Please help us continue in our support of these beautiful creatures.
