Doxie Adoption Days

Adoption Days Schedule
Matching our very special doxies in forever homes is the most rewarding experience we have here at Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County & NJ.  This page has been established to guide you through the process and to help you find a date and time to meet with us once your pre-screen has taken place.  Remember, finding the right addition for your family is a process.  DRBC will work with you to help make sure that it is a smooth and happy one.

The Application
It all begins with the application, so if you have not taken that step, please click on the icon below and get going!  Someone is waiting just for you.  Once we receive the application and processing donation, we will be in touch to help you find that match of the heart.

Post Pre-Screen

All done with your pre-screen?  Check the times below and see what fits your schedule and ours.  Keep in mind that DRBC is a private organization supported completely through volunteer efforts.  Our 'Meet-n-Greet' schedule is a reflection of our volunteers ability to support this process.  We thank you in advance for your patience and interest.

Adoption Days Schedule
DRBC schedules individual 'Meet-n-Greets' for individuals and families that have successfully completed the pre-screen process.  Each adoption meeting will be scheduled on an individual basis according to the schedule listed.  While your time may vary the list below shows the dates currently scheduled for potential adoptions.

Note:  Remember, applications must be received and pre-screened by DRBC prior to the confirmation of any appointment times

What To Expect
Here at Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County & NJ our focus is on supporting the breed we love so much.  Our organization works a little differently than some, as we place the doxies happiness in a match above all else.  This is truly a match of the heart.

The Big Day
Your arrival at our of our foster homes will be met with barks and howls as all the doxies will want to announce your arrival.  Once in the door they will quiet down and come to meet you.

How the DRBC Staff Helps
Our 'Meet-n-Greets' are designed to be educational and informative.  We provide guidance on:
  • Diet
  • Toys
  • Vaccinations & Healthcare
  • Breed Characteristics
  • More
DRBC maintains a set of brochures and booklets as take home guides to all adoptees, although we are never more than a phone call away for assistance.

What the Doxies Are Doing
One by one, the dogs will stop by and say 'hi'.  Some are more shy than others, while a few doxies really know how to work the room.  Before long one or two will spend more time with you than any others.  We know they have made a choice.

What Potential Adopters Experience
Our adoption process is fun, but can be overwhelming at first.  Families adding a doxie will often hold their existing dog close.  That's OK, before long you will see them join in the doxie circus and have fun and before long you too, will be caught up in the experience.  You and your family will hear much information, but these 2 hours are yours and yours alone.  DRBC volunteers will blend both the fun and the educational portions of your experience.  And don't forget, this is your time, come armed with questions!

The Adoption
While not all adoptions occur at the 'Meet-n-Greet', many do.  The match that begins at your meeting with us represents a strong bond for you, the doxie and DRBC.

The Agreement
Like any adoption organization, DRBC binds your new relationship with a contact.  Signing this contract confirms your commitment to your new charge and joins your to the DRBC family.

Getting Ready
One of the biggest areas of concern for new adopters is preparing for all the things you will need for your new family member.  Not to worry!  Each placement is sent home with Heartworm medication, Flea/Tick protection, Glycosamine supplements, Vitamins and food at a reduced cost to the adopting family.  A complementary blanket is included as well.

After the Adoption
Joining our family is imporant to everyone involved in the rescue.  We stay in close contact with our adopters and help them through the tough spots.  Our commitment doesn't end there.  Our events are always well attended by DRBC adoptees and volunteers and adopting families look forward to these occasions.  All adoptees are enrolled in our Fan Club! Think of it this way: the opportunity for fun never stops!

Hope to See You Soon!
