You woke me! My name is Chickie and I am the old man around here. I came to Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County & NJ at the ripe old age of 17 years and have been hanging out ever since. I will turn 24 years old on April 3rd, 2011. I came here when my Dad died. It was a pretty sad day, but now I have my own recliner with cozy soft bedding! Not bad really. The folks here at DRBC make sure my every need is covered! I love them.
I should tell you that I am blind and not recently either...I was born without sight. No worries though, that doesn't stop me from getting the best place in front of the TV! I get other special stuff too...like Mom carries me up and down the steps, I sleep in my own special crib and I get fed first 'cause Mom knows I need extra time to find my food in my special bowl.
No question I own the recliner, but there is still space on the couch
and in my heart for you. I hope we can become Best Friends.
When my Dad passed away I got sent to a place called a shelter, and let me tell you - sheltering me was about all they did. I got itchy [I later found out it was fleas - yuk] and it was real loud. I heard someone say they were going to give me something that would put me right to sleep, but then the folks at Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County & NJ stepped in and took me to the sanctuary home. Wow. What a difference. My fleas are gone, I saw a veterinarian and got my teeth cleaned and so now my worries are gone. Here at DRBC I get lots of love and care...now I am angling for control of the remote and a Best Friend to share it.
I don't know where doxies like me would be without the great support given to us by Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County & NJ. They are the best! Little old guys like me can get left behind, but not here. Won't you be a Best Friend? You'll be helping so many doxies that other humans have written off. Please show us all a little kindness and care and become a Best Friend today!
Chickie was born blind and has adapted beyond any normal expectation. His long life has been a pleasant and welcome suprise! We think of Chick as our entitled senior and have given him the best seat in the house, not that we had a lot of choice in the matter; Chickie has opinions ;) DRBC is happy to be able to provide for the rest of their lives, sanctuary, shelter, medical support and love to Chickie and his buddies in our Best Friends Program. We hope you will join their cause.
